Benign lesions are non-cancerous, whereas a malignant lesion is cancerous, skin growths that may appear flat, small, enlarged, pigmented, or have other characteristics. Benign lesions can include lentigines, seborrheic keratoses, DPNs, and skin tags. We can remove the most common benign skin lesions with one of the many different techniques we offer. The removal treatment is quick, sutureless, and has a rapid healing time. These treatments are for all ethnic skin types to give patients optimal results.
Treatments for removal depend on the type of skin lesion. Options include cryotherapy (freezing), electrocautery (burning), or simple scissor snip. The treated lesion may be darker, irritated or red for a few days. Lesions tend to get darker and will eventually flake off in about 1-2 weeks. No anesthetic is needed, there is minimal downtime, and 15 to 30 minutes is all that is needed for removal. Multiple treatments may be required for certain lesions. Avoid sun exposure to prevent post inflammatory pigmentation.
